The Prairie Mission Morris Chair was designed with both form and function in mind. More than 150 years ago, William Morris and Co. in London produced a cushioned chair with an adjustable back—the world's first recliner. Mission styling was added to this basic design by Gustav Stickley in the early 1900s, resulting in a sturdy yet comfortable living-room staple that eschewed the delicate styling of its Victorian predecessor.

Your furniture is finished with your choice of stain color or natural color (no stain), then with a varnish that has a light to moderate sheen.
For some furniture the bottom portion (such as table legs and skirting, or the bottom of a hutch) can be painted. Just choose "Two-Tone" if it’s available and then the paint color you would like. You can also choose "Rub Through," which is a light distressing of the painted surface.
